Color Trending – Where are we headed
Welcome to my blog today I’m writing about color trending. What are the latest colors of choice? Have you taken much notice of your surroundings lately? When looking for the next color alert take a good look around you. Look at design magazines, fashion magazines, catalogs in the mail, advertising, the runway, TV, the mall – the list is endless. When you start taking notice you’ll realize a recurring theme – the color pallet. It varies from season to season, year to year. Naturally, we want to know about whats happening NOW. What are we seeing THIS spring? The spring of 2015. It’s colorful!
Pantone has released their fashion color report for Spring 2015. Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute describes the trend as a much cooler and softer side of the color spectrum. A mix of understated brights, pale pastels, and nature-like neutrals are here. From what I’ve read the front-runner is Marsala, a warm, rich washed out reddy brown.
So how are you going to decorate with this rainbow? You’re not going to use them all at once, try this. It’s one of many ways to do it. Pick some neutrals and accents and follow the 60:30:10 rule.
Decorate 60% in your neutral color i.e. Glacer Gray or Toasted Almond and the usuals like whites, browns and blacks
Decorate 30% in your secondary color or main accent color, typically used on smaller furnishings i.e. bar stool upholstery, or curtains
Decorate 10% in your final accent color with accessory pieces to make things pop.
Enjoy decorating with these colors. Not just in your interiors but on yourselves. The glory you can create is endless!!!
